Performed by two actors playing all 14 characters, Jim Cartwright’s poignant play takes audiences into the world of a working-class pub over the course of one night. Weaving together rich stories full of human emotion, this dark-comedy gives an intimate insight into a variety of characters.
I designed the set to transform the Greenwich Theatres bar & studio theatre into an immersive pub space with the audience sat at pub furniture, an 80s fruit slot machine, table football & jukebox.

“Immersive... Inspired! Will undoubtly stay with me for a very long time"
“Skilfully done, perhaps more so than I thought was possible in such a tight space. Certainly bold and ambitious, it would be easy to get this wrong but great care has been taken in executing this vision, and the result pays off completely.”

"Walking into the Greenwich theatre bar (re-designed by Jana Lakatos), the air is ripe with nostalgia. The dart board, the duke box, the background 80’s classics soundtrack, the Winsor chairs, tables with ashtrays full of dog ends."

“Landing marvellously...Best evidenced through the vibrant costume design, with colourful windbreakers, little pencil skirts, and even an argyle sweater”

There’s a sense of dynamism and reciprocation...The immersion is high: if you’re lucky the actors will even serve your pre-show drink from behind the bar. The pub ‘set’ is brought to life by the scampi fries beside the lager, fag ends in cut-glass ashtrays"
